The Online Congress Explained

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 33rd Hegel Congress will be held online. Below we are providing basic information about how the keynote speakers and panel participants will be able to present their contributions.

Presentations will take two forms:

• presentations by keynote speakers will be held and discussed as live teleconferences,

• presentations by panel participants will be published as asynchronous contributions (video, audio, or text) on the Congress website, the possibility of discussion included.

Presentations by keynote speakers

Information regarding the presentations by keynote speakers (order of presentations, platform, login) will be provided after June 15, 2021. After that date, we will set up a new subpage dedicated to keynote speakers.

All presentations will start at pre-set time slots from Monday, June 21, to Friday, June 25, 2021:

13:00 CEST (=UTC+2, the time in Warsaw, Berlin, Paris)

15:00 CEST (=UTC+2)

In these time slots also the other live events will take place, such as the official opening and closing ceremonies and some additional events. So please save the dates and times and make sure you know when they start in your time zone!

The discussion of the keynote speakers’ presentations will be possible after the presentation during the teleconference.

The live presentations will be held on the ZOOM platform. In the week before the Congress we’ll send you the login information.

Please make sure that you know the basics of how ZOOM works. You can download the software here. Under this link you’ll find some tutorials. However, if you don’t feel comfortable on your own with using ZOOM, please use the time before the Congress to get in touch with someone who could instruct you. ZOOM has become the most common teleconference application during the pandemic around the world, so we are sure some of your friends will be able to help you out.

Please mind that for using ZOOM you will need a device able to play audio.

Presentations in the panels

The presentations in the panels will be asynchronous in the form of video, audio, and text files. After June 15, 2021, we will establish separate sub-pages for each panel on the Congress website. On such a page you’ll be able to see an overview of all titles and abstracts and will have the possibility to access both the content of the presentations as well as the discussion. The discussion of panel contributions will be held on a dedicated Congress forum and will be asynchronous.

You’ll be able to access the presentations in sections directly via the Congress website, but you’ll need to enter a password we will send to all registered participants in the week preceding the Congress. Many of the presentations will have the form of videos. For viewing them you’ll need an updated version of one of the leading internet browsers (Google Chrome, MS Edge, Mozilla Firefox etc.) and a device able to play audio. Before the Congress please make sure that your browser and device are able to play videos from www.youtube.com.

The discussion of panel presentations will take place on a dedicated forum, which will be accessible directly from the page with panel presentations.

Please mind that both the access to panel presentations and to the forum will require you to provide a password you receive from us via e-mail, but will not require any additional registration to any online services.

Participation without a presentation

If you would like to take part in the Congress without presentation but with the possibility to discuss the contributions, please register here until Sunday, June 6, 2021.

Contributions to the Hegel-Jahrbuch

Please DO NOT send the article you want to have considered for the Hegel-Jahrbuch to hegel2020@uw.edu.pl.

The publication in the Jahrbuch is a separate process from contributing to the Congress, but you might use your Congress presentation and the feedback received to prepare your Hegel-Jahrbuch article.

Der Online-Kongress erklärt

Aufgrund der COVID-19-Pandemie wird der 33. Hegel-Kongress online abgehalten. Im Folgenden geben wir Ihnen grundlegende Informationen darüber, wie Keynote Speakers und Teilnehmende an den Panels ihre Beiträge präsentieren werden.

Die Präsentationen werden in zwei Formen stattfinden:

• Präsentationen von den Keynote Speakers werden während Live-Telefonkonferenzen abgehalten und diskutiert,

• Präsentationen in den Panels werden als asynchrone Beiträge (Video, Audio oder Text) auf der Kongress-Website veröffentlicht und zur Diskussion gestellt.

Präsentationen der Keynote Speakers
Informationen zu den Vorträgen der Keynote Speakers (Reihenfolge der Vorträge, Plattform, Login) werden nach dem 15. Juni 2021 zur Verfügung gestellt. Nach diesem Datum werden wir eine neue Unterseite für die Präsentationen der Keynote Speakers einrichten.

Alle Präsentationen werden zu den folgenden vorgegebenen Zeiten zwischen Montag, den 21. Juni, und Freitag, den 25. Juni 2021, beginnen:

13:00 Uhr MESZ (=UTC+2, die Zeit in Warschau, Berlin, Paris)
15:00 Uhr MESZ (=UTC+2)

In diesen Zeitfenstern finden auch die anderen Live-Events statt, wie z.B. die offizielle Eröffnungs- und Abschlusszeremonie sowie einige zusätzliche Veranstaltungen. Bitte merken Sie sich also die Daten und Zeiten vor und stellen Sie sicher, dass Sie wissen, wann sie in Ihrer Zeitzone beginnen!

Die Diskussion der Vorträge der Keynote Speaker wird während der Telefonkonferenz sofort nach der Präsentation möglich sein.

Die Live-Vorträge finden auf der ZOOM-Plattform statt. In der Woche vor dem Kongress senden wir Ihnen die Login-Informationen zu.

Bitte stellen Sie sicher, dass Sie die Grundlagen der Funktionsweise von ZOOM kennen. Sie können die Software hier herunterladen. Unter diesem Link finden Sie einige Hinweise, wie die Software funktioniert. Wenn Sie sich jedoch alleine nicht sicher im Umgang mit ZOOM fühlen, nutzen Sie bitte die Zeit vor dem Kongress, um sich mit jemandem in Verbindung zu setzen, der Ihnen helfen kann. ZOOM ist während der Pandemie auf der ganzen Welt die am häufigsten verwendete Telekonferenz-Software geworden, sodass wir sicher sind, dass einige Ihrer Freunde Ihnen mit der Bedienung der Software behilflich sein werden können.

Bitte beachten Sie, dass Sie für die Nutzung von ZOOM ein Gerät benötigen, das Audio abspielen kann.

Präsentationen in den Panels
In den Panels können die Präsentationen in Form von Video-, Audio- und Textdateien asynchron dargestellt werden. Nach dem 15. Juni 2021 werden wir für jedes Panel eine eigene Unterseite auf der Kongress-Website einrichten. Auf einer solchen Seite werden Sie eine Übersicht über alle Titel und Abstracts haben, sowie die Möglichkeit, sowohl auf die Inhalte der Präsentationen als auch auf die Diskussion zuzugreifen. Die Diskussion der Panel-Beiträge wird in einem eigenen Kongress-Forum stattfinden und wird asynchron durchgeführt.

Sie können auf die Sektionsvorträge direkt über die Kongress-Website zugreifen, aber Sie müssen ein Passwort eingeben, das wir in der Woche vor dem Kongress an alle registrierte Teilnehmer senden werden. Viele der Präsentationen werden die Form von Videos haben. Um diese ansehen zu können, benötigen Sie eine aktuelle Version eines der führenden Internetbrowser (Google Chrome, MS Edge, Mozilla Firefox etc.) und ein Gerät, das Audio abspielen kann. Bitte stellen Sie vor dem Kongress sicher, dass Ihr Browser und Ihr Gerät in der Lage sind, Videos von www.youtube.com abzuspielen.

Die Diskussion der Sektionsvorträge wird in dem dafür vorgesehenen Forum stattfinden, auf welches direkt von der Seite mit den Sektionsvorträgen zugegriffen werden kann.

Bitte beachten Sie, dass für den Zugang sowohl zu den Panel-Präsentationen, als auch für zum Forum ein Passwort erforderlich ist, das Sie von uns per E-Mail erhalten werden. Es wird aber keine zusätzliche Registrierung bei zusätzlichen Online-Diensten erfordert.

Wenn Sie ohne Vortrag am Kongress teilnehmen möchten, melden Sie sich bitte bis Sonntag, den 6. Juni 2021, hier.

Bitte senden Sie Ihren Artikel für das Hegel-Jahrbuch NICHT an hegel2020@uw.edu.pl.

Die Veröffentlichung im Jahrbuch ist ein von der Beteiligung am Kongress getrennter Prozess, aber Sie können Ihren Kongressvortrag und das erhaltene Feedback zur Vorbereitung Ihres Hegel-Jahrbuch-Artikels nutzen.
